Mehta Scholars Program

Mehta Rice Engineering Scholars Program

In collaboration with the Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation, Rice University has forged a strategic alliance that fosters scholarship and collaboration between the School of Engineering and Indian universities. The Mehta Rice Engineering Scholars Program facilitates an academic exchange initiative for Indian students and promotes research collaborations among students and faculty members. As part of the scholarship program, Indian students have the opportunity to study at Rice for three to six months in the areas of advanced materials, quantum science, energy and sustainability, data sciences/AI, and biological sciences. Rice-India Institute of Technology Kanpur Collaborative Center

In 2020, Rice University and the India Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) partnered to establish the Rice-IITK Center on the Kanpur campus. This innovative center provides a thriving research environment dedicated to the creation of sustainable, long-term solutions that address the ever-increasing global energy demand. It facilitates greater levels of collaboration, encourages the exchange of knowledge, and welcomes diverse perspectives among faculty and students from both institutions and beyond. Learn More

Rice-University of Edinburgh Strategic Collaboration

The University of Edinburgh and Rice University have established a strategic partnership to cultivate collaborations in research and education. The Rice-Edinburgh Strategic Collaboration Awards (SCA) support joint initiatives that strengthen the two universities’ strategic priorities as well as develop interdisciplinary research that has academic and societal impact. Brazil flag

Brasil@Rice

Focused on engineering design, the Brasil@Rice student-exchange program was established by Rice University and Brazil’s Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) thanks to a grant awarded by the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund. The program enables students from both Rice and PUCRS to collaborate on real-world challenges proposed by industry and community partners and work in an international engineering environment. In 2022, Brasil@Rice celebrated 10 years of building connections between Rice and Brazilian students, scholars and educational institutions, as well as advancing partnerships among government and private sector entities in each country.
