Reconnect with Rice engineers at Alumni Weekend

School of Engineering invites alumni to participate in special events November 3-4.

Alumni stand on steps and make Rice owl sign with hands

There’s no place like The George R. Brown School of Engineering. Alumni are invited to join the School of Engineering November 3-4 for special events during Alumni Weekend. From engaging faculty lectures to tours of the new Ralph S. O'Connor Building for Engineering and Science, Alumni Weekend gives the Rice Engineering community a chance to reconnect and celebrate what makes it so special.

As a highlight of Alumni Weekend, Dean Luay Nakhleh will welcome Rice engineers and answer questions during our Alumni Reception on Friday, November 3. See below to submit your question and to find out more details. As you prepare your questions, you are welcome to visit the dean's blog to learn more about what's on his mind.

Alumni can register now for a fun-filled weekend and make plans to engage with former classmates and faculty during these School of Engineering events:

Faculty Mini-Lectures, Friday, November 3 from 10:45-11:45 a.m. in Hudspeth Auditorium, Anderson-Clarke Center

Rice Engineering is proud to provide opportunities for undergraduates to research alongside world-renowned faculty. Join us for TEDx-style talks from four Rice faculty members—including Rice Engineering’s own Omid Veiseh, associate professor of bioengineering—as they discuss including undergraduate students in research endeavors and facilitating successful collaborations.

Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen Tour featuring Rice360 Fellows, Friday, November 3 from 11 a.m.-noon in the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen

Engineering design isn’t just for senior projects anymore! Get an inside look at the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen—the cornerstone of the Rice engineering undergraduate experience—and the hub of global health projects from the Rice360 Institute for Global Health Technologies. Rice360 Fellows and OEDK lab assistants will be on hand to show you around our maker space where engineering undergraduates create solutions to real-world problems. If you graduated before 2009, you’re going to wish you had a maker space like this as a student. Don't forget to ask why it's called a kitchen!
