Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Renata Ramos, Ph.D. serves as the primary representative of the dean‚Äôs office on all matters affecting undergraduate and graduate academics. She is responsible for working with the department chairs on curriculum reform and programs related to innovation in undergraduate education.
Ramos earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering, with a minor in industrial design/mechanical design, from the Instituto Tecnol√≥gico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico in 2002. She received a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, with a minor in physiological sciences, from the University of Arizona in 2008. That year she joined the Rice faculty as a lecturer in BIOE, and from 2014 was the department‚Äôs director of undergraduate studies, managing most aspects of the program and serving as the primary adviser for all undergraduates.
