Senior Associate Dean for Administration and Planning
Bart Sinclair, Ph.D., provides oversight of the school’s finances and internal controls, facilities, as well as the development of business plans for new programs. He works closely with faculty and administration, and the university’s business and academic offices to ensure financial operations are efficient and effective, and to increase the revenues to the school while managing expenses.
Sinclair earned his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from Rice in electrical engineering, in 1973, 1974 and 1979, respectively. In 1978, he joined the electrical engineering faculty as assistant professor, and in 1999 joined the dean of engineering’s office. For nine years, Sinclair conducted information sessions for more than 6,200 prospective students in the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen. In 2012, he was recognized by the Rice Engineering Alumni Association with its first Distinguished Service Medal for exemplary service. In 2017 he was honored with the Rice Distinguished Service Award given by the Board of Trustees.
